Lighting for Short Film

Hey film fam, I'm Dale (lead Electrician on set) and I’m looking for a talented Gaffer to join our crew for an upcoming sci-fi drama short film. This is a passion project with a unique premise about a lone scientist trying to reverse a global environmental catastrophe, exploring themes of hope and perseverance. We're aiming for a moody, atmospheric look with practical effects and thoughtful lighting to enhance the emotional journey. Your main responsibilities will include collaborating with the DP and me on lighting design, leading the lighting crew, and executing the lighting plot. Ideally, you’ll have experience with independent productions and a good understanding of various lighting techniques. A reel showcasing your work, especially on dramatic or genre projects, would be a huge plus. We don't expect you to bring a full lighting package, but confidence in operating and managing standard grip and electric gear is essential. We're shooting in Los Angeles for approximately 3-4 days in late July, exact dates TBD. We'll provide craft services and a great experience with a dedicated, friendly crew. No pay, but a wonderful opportunity to build your portfolio and connect with other passionate filmmakers.
