Locations for Short Film

Filming in New York City over 3-4 days during the first half of October 2026 for an independent production, we're seeking a talented Production Designer. Our sci-fi drama short, titled \"Echoes in the Code,\" explores themes of artificial intelligence and human connection with a subtle, atmospheric tone. We need someone who can help us build a believable near-future world with limited resources, focusing on character environments rather than grand spectacles. This is an exciting opportunity to shape the visual identity of a compelling story. Key responsibilities include collaborating closely with the Director and Cinematographer to establish the film's aesthetic, designing and dressing practical locations, managing a small art department budget, and overseeing set decoration and prop acquisition. You'll be responsible for bringing the script's visual elements to life. We're open to all experience levels, but a strong portfolio or reel demonstrating your visual storytelling ability is essential. While we don't expect you to bring extensive gear, a keen eye for detail, problem-solving skills, and a collaborative spirit are crucial. Production will provide a budget for set dressing, props, and art supplies. Compensation is $1000-1500 per day for a total of 1-2 prep days and 3-4 shoot days. Long hours should be expected on set, typical for a short film.
