Locations Scout/Manager, Feature Film

Our independent production is seeking a dedicated and resourceful Locations Scout/Manager to join our crew for an upcoming feature film. This project is a character-driven dramatic thriller set in present-day Los Angeles, exploring themes of urban isolation and psychological suspense with a grounded, gritty aesthetic. We are looking for someone to help us find and manage compelling, practical locations that enhance our story's atmosphere. Key responsibilities include scouting, photographing, and presenting a diverse range of location options within the Los Angeles area, negotiating access with property owners, managing permits, and overseeing on-set location logistics during production. You will be instrumental in ensuring smooth operations regarding our physical environments. We require applicants to have 3-5 years of experience in locations for narrative features, a strong understanding of permit processes in Los Angeles, and excellent communication skills. A valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and a portfolio or reel showcasing your previous location work are essential. Experience with deferred payment structures on independent films is also preferred. Prep work is anticipated to begin around October 9, 2026, with an estimated 4-week shoot period following. This is a full-time commitment during prep and production. All necessary location department expenses, such as mileage and permits, will be provided.
