Locations Scout/Manager, Documentary
This job posting is closed.
Hey filmmakers, we're an independent production seeking a motivated Locations Scout/Manager for an upcoming documentary. This film explores the vibrant, hidden subcultures of New York City, taking a deep dive into communities often overlooked. It's a visually rich project with a human interest focus and we're aiming for a raw, authentic feel. We need someone who knows NYC like the back of their hand, is great at problem solving, and isn't afraid to get creative. Your main responsibilities will involve researching and scouting various locations across the five boroughs, obtaining necessary permits or permissions, and helping to manage logistics on shoot days. We're open to all experience levels, from passionate newcomers eager to learn to seasoned pros. Strong communication skills and a proactive attitude are key. Access to your own transportation around the city, even if it's just a MetroCard and good walking shoes, is definitely a plus. This is a volunteer position, but you'll get full on-screen credit and all meals will be provided on shoot days. We anticipate principle photography will take place over a few weekends in late August or early September 2026, roughly 10-12 days total, but we can be flexible. This is a fantastic opportunity to gain experience on a compelling documentary and expand your network in the independent film scene. Let's make something great together!
