Music Video Screenwriter, NYC (Any Exp.)
We are an independent production team seeking a talented screenwriter for an upcoming music video project based in New York City. We need someone to craft a compelling visual narrative for a new track from an emerging indie artist. The song is an upbeat, atmospheric electronic pop piece with introspective lyrics about self-discovery and finding your voice. We're looking for a treatment that feels fresh, visually imaginative, and tells a clear story that enhances the song's emotional core, without being too literal. Think vibrant colors, dynamic transitions, and a narrative that builds to a strong, inspiring conclusion. This isn't just about cool shots; it's about telling a story through rhythm and imagery. Your main responsibility will be to develop a detailed treatment and shot list that translates the song's themes into a concise and engaging visual concept. This includes character ideas, location suggestions, and a breakdown of key scenes. We'll work collaboratively to refine the vision. You'll need to be available for virtual meetings and potentially a couple of in-person discussions in NYC during September 2026 for development. Previous experience writing for music videos is a plus, but we're open to any experience level if you have a strong creative voice and understanding of visual storytelling. Please submit a reel or portfolio of your writing samples, particularly any narrative treatments or short film scripts. This is a paid position, offering $150-300 per day for an estimated 3-5 days of work, depending on the complexity of the treatment. We are aiming for principal photography to take place in late September 2026.
