Screenwriting for Documentary

Documentary Screenwriting Austin, TX any Budget: $200-400/day

An independent documentary project exploring the vibrant, underground music scene of Austin's early 2000s is seeking a talented Editor to help bring its story to life. This isn't just about music, but about the unique culture, personalities, and DIY spirit that defined a generation here. We’ve captured some incredible archival footage, interviews, and contemporary scenes and are now ready to shape it into a compelling narrative. Key responsibilities include assembling raw footage into a cohesive story, collaborating closely with the director and screenwriter on narrative structure, incorporating sound design and music, and preparing cuts for feedback rounds. We're looking for someone with a strong sense of storytelling, rhythm, and an eye for detail. Experience with documentary editing is a plus, but if you have a great reel showcasing your storytelling abilities, please apply regardless of your specific experience level. Proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro is required. You’ll need your own editing workstation; a dedicated space will be provided on-site if preferred, or you can work remotely with regular check-ins. This is a paid position, offering $200-400/day depending on experience. We anticipate about 4-6 weeks of work, starting in mid-September 2026. Please send your resume and a link to your reel. We’ll be reviewing applications until October 18, 2026.
