Screenwriter, Sci-Fi Short Film

Seeking a talented Screenwriter to develop an original short film script for an independent production in Los Angeles. This is an entry-level opportunity for a writer looking to bring a compelling story to life. Our upcoming project is a psychological sci-fi thriller, exploring themes of memory, identity, and simulated realities, with a grounded, character-driven tone reminiscent of early Black Mirror or Twilight Zone episodes. We're looking for a script that challenges perceptions and leaves a lasting impact in about 15-20 minutes of screen time. Key responsibilities include outlining the narrative arc, writing dialogue, developing character backstories, and revising drafts based on feedback. The ideal candidate will have a strong sense of visual storytelling and an ability to craft engaging, suspenseful plots. Experience writing short films or spec scripts is a plus, and a portfolio or writing samples demonstrating your unique voice and storytelling ability are essential. We expect about 3-4 weeks of focused writing and revision, starting in September 2026. Compensation for this role is deferred, with an agreement for backend participation upon completion and distribution of the film.
