Production Design for Short Film

An independent production is seeking an entry-level Production Designer to join our small, passionate team for an upcoming short film in Atlanta. This project is a visually driven sci-fi drama with a contemplative tone, exploring themes of memory and isolation in a near-future setting. We're aiming for a distinctive aesthetic that feels both familiar and subtly alien, making this a great opportunity for a designer eager to build their portfolio with creative world-building. Key responsibilities include collaborating closely with the director to develop the visual style, sourcing and creating props, managing set dressing, and ensuring continuity across scenes. You'll be responsible for bringing our unique vision to life on a modest budget, showcasing your resourcefulness and artistic eye. While specific gear isn't required for this role, access to basic tools or a personal kit for minor set modifications would be a plus. We're looking for someone with a strong portfolio, even if it's composed of student projects or personal work, demonstrating creativity and attention to detail. Experience on a film set, even in a different department, is beneficial. We're particularly interested in candidates who can offer innovative design solutions. Shoot dates are tentatively scheduled for a 1-2 day period in the first half of November 2026, with prep work commencing about 3 weeks prior. Compensation is negotiable based on experience.
