Production Design for Pilot

Los Angeles based, filming in the second half of November 2026 for an independent pilot production. We are seeking a talented and imaginative Production Designer for a mid-level position. This project is a gritty, near-future sci-fi drama, blending grounded realism with subtle futuristic elements. We're aiming for a distinctive look that feels both familiar and slightly off-kilter, with a focus on practical sets and props that tell a story. This is a great opportunity to define the visual language of a project with strong potential. Responsibilities include developing the overall aesthetic, designing and overseeing the construction or sourcing of sets, props, and on-screen graphics, and working closely with the Director and Director of Photography to realize the visual vision. You'll be managing a small art department team, so organizational skills are key. You'll also be responsible for ensuring designs are within budget and schedule. Applicants should have at least 3-5 years of experience in film or television production design, preferably with some sci-fi or genre experience. A strong portfolio or reel demonstrating your creative vision, problem-solving abilities, and practical execution is essential. While we have a small art budget, your creative ability to stretch resources will be highly valued. We're looking for someone who can bring their own tools and connections where helpful, though basic materials and necessary rentals will be provided. The approximate shoot duration is 5-7 days, with roughly 2-3 weeks of prep time before that. We're paying $300-500 per day.
