Production Design for Documentary

Documentary Production Design Atlanta, GA mid Budget: Backend percentage

Seeking a dedicated Production Designer for a feature-length documentary shooting in Atlanta, GA, with compensation as a backend percentage. This independent production focuses on the untold stories of Atlanta's underground fashion scene from the 80s and 90s, blending archival footage with present-day interviews and stylized reenactments. We're looking for someone with a strong eye for detail and the ability to craft distinct visual environments that reflect the era and the subjects' unique styles, providing a cohesive aesthetic. You'll be responsible for conceptualizing and executing the visual look of sets and locations, sourcing props, and collaborating closely with the director and cinematographer to bring our vision to life. This role requires experience in documentary or narrative production design, a strong portfolio or reel demonstrating your creative range, and the ability to work resourcefully within a lean budget. While no specific gear is required, familiarity with local prop houses and vendors is a plus. Prep work will begin in late October or early November 2026, with principal photography planned for about 3-4 weeks following prep. We’re a passionate, small production company, and we’ll provide location access and some material budget. This is a great opportunity to contribute significantly to a compelling, character-driven story.
