Production Designer, Feature Doc

Seeking a talented Production Designer for an independent feature documentary exploring the vibrant underground music scene of 1980s Brooklyn. This project blends archival footage with stylized re-enactments and interviews, requiring a keen eye for period detail and atmospheric creation to transport our audience. We're looking for someone to help us visually define the era and locations, creating a distinctive aesthetic that supports the narrative without overshadowing it. This is a unique opportunity to shape the visual identity of a project with significant historical and cultural relevance. Key responsibilities include collaborating with the director on visual concepts, sourcing and modifying props, set dressing, and managing the art department budget. We value creativity and resourcefulness. Experience level is open; we prioritize passion and a strong portfolio demonstrating relevant skills, even if from non-traditional projects. We anticipate approximately 3-4 weeks of prep and shoot days spread across the first half of November 2026, working standard 10-12 hour days. Compensation is $1000-1500 per day, dependent on experience.
