Production Designer, Independent Doc
Hey, fellow filmmakers. I'm a cinematographer putting together a team for an independent documentary exploring the unique underground music scene in 90s Los Angeles. We're looking for a talented Production Designer to help us bring this vibrant, gritty world to life. This is a mid-level position, perfect for someone with a strong art department background ready to lead. Your main responsibilities will involve concept development, set decoration, prop sourcing, and collaborating closely with the director and myself to achieve the desired aesthetic. We're aiming for an authentic, immersive feel, so an eye for period detail and a resourceful approach to budgeting will be key. You should have a solid portfolio showcasing your design work, ideally with some experience in period pieces or documentary narrative. We don't expect you to bring a full kit, but any personal art department tools or relationships with prop houses are a plus. Our planned shoot dates are flexible, looking at late summer/early fall for principal photography, likely working 10-12 hour days during those periods. We’ll provide a dedicated budget for materials and location dressing. This project is a passion piece, offering a backend percentage upon completion and distribution. Let's make something special.
