Production Designer, Sci-Fi Short (Atlanta)

Our upcoming sci-fi psychological drama short, exploring themes of isolation and perception in a contained, high-tech environment, is seeking a talented Production Designer. This is an ambitious independent production with a compelling script that offers a unique visual challenge. We're looking for someone who can translate complex emotional states into tangible, evocative spaces on a limited budget. Key responsibilities include collaborating closely with the Director and Cinematographer to develop the film's visual language, overseeing set decoration, props, and overall art direction. You'll manage a small art department team, source materials, and ensure all design elements enhance the narrative. This is a hands-on role; your creativity and problem-solving skills will be essential. We require a senior-level Production Designer with a strong reel demonstrating a clear artistic vision, especially in genre work or projects with distinct world-building. Experience working on independent films with resource constraints is a plus. While we will provide a modest budget for materials, proficiency in leveraging available resources and finding innovative solutions is key. Prep will likely start around the first week of October 2026, with principal photography scheduled for the last week of October 2026, likely 3-4 days. This is a deferred compensation position (backend percentage), ideal for someone passionate about the project and looking to build their portfolio with impactful work.
