Prop Master, Dark Sci-Fi Short, Austin TX

Seeking an experienced Prop Master for our upcoming dark sci-fi short film shooting over 2-3 weeks in September 2026. This is a paid position, $2000-3000 per week, with an estimated 3 weeks of work. Our project is a character-driven thriller set in a dystopian future, exploring themes of memory and identity. The tone is gritty and suspenseful, reminiscent of early Ridley Scott. We need someone who can source, create, and manage all props, from futuristic tech devices to aged, industrial set dressings, ensuring they integrate into our world. Key responsibilities include prop research, acquisition or fabrication, inventory, and on-set management. You'll work closely with the Production Designer and Director to achieve the visual aesthetic. Candidates should have previous experience as a Prop Master or Lead Propmaker on independent productions, a strong portfolio or reel showcasing your work, and ideally, access to a workshop or fabrication space. Reliable transportation is essential. We're a small, dedicated crew looking for a creative and resourceful team player.
