Screenwriting for Pilot

Our independent production is seeking a talented mid-level screenwriter to join our small team for an exciting sci-fi thriller pilot based in Brooklyn. This project is a gritty, character-driven story exploring themes of identity and surveillance, with a dark, suspenseful tone. We've got a compelling concept and detailed outline, and we need your expertise to bring the script to life. Your primary responsibility will be to draft the pilot script from our existing treatment and beat sheet, collaborating closely with the director to ensure creative alignment. This includes developing compelling dialogue, refining character arcs, and crafting impactful scene descriptions that fit our budget parameters. We're looking for someone with at least 3-5 years of professional screenwriting experience, specifically with pilot or short-form narrative work. While not required, experience in the sci-fi or thriller genre is a definite plus. You'll need to demonstrate strong narrative skills and a clear voice through your writing samples or a link to your online reel/portfolio. The bulk of the writing will occur over a period of about 6-8 weeks, starting around October 13, 2026. This is a deferred payment opportunity, offering points in the production plus deferred compensation upon successful funding or sale of the pilot. We provide all necessary story materials, regular feedback, and a collaborative creative environment. Location is Brooklyn, NY, with a mix of remote work and in-person meetings.
