Seeking a talented screenwriter to craft a compelling script for an independent short film set in the vibrant city of New Orleans. This will be a character-driven drama, exploring themes of resilience and the search for belonging within a unique cultural backdrop. We're looking for a fresh, authentic voice to bring this story to life, with a strong emphasis on vivid dialogue and a narrative that builds emotional depth quickly. This isn't just about plot, it's about atmosphere and human connection. Your primary responsibility will be to develop a concise yet impactful script (approximately 10-15 pages) based on a provided concept and character outlines. You'll work closely with the director to refine the story and ensure it aligns with our vision, delivering a production-ready script. This is a one-time writing gig, not a full-time position. We're open to all experience levels, but a portfolio of previous writing work, especially short-form narratives or character pieces, is essential. While not required to be physically present in New Orleans for the writing phase, familiarity with the city's unique charm or a willingness to research it deeply would be a major plus. We'll provide a detailed brief and all necessary background information. Compensation is $500-800/day for what we anticipate will be about 3-5 days of focused work, spread over a couple of weeks to allow for revisions. This is a work-for-hire agreement for a complete script, paid upon delivery and approval.
