Senior Location Manager, Documentary

Documentary Locations Albuquerque, NM senior Budget: $500-800/day

Looking for a seasoned Location Manager for an upcoming independent documentary project shooting in and around Albuquerque. This film dives into the vibrant, often overlooked, history of New Mexico's lowrider culture, focusing on the passion and artistry behind these unique vehicles. We're aiming for a strong visual narrative with an authentic feel, so securing diverse, visually compelling locations is key. Your main responsibilities will include scouting, securing permits, negotiating access, managing location agreements, and coordinating with local authorities and property owners. You'll also be responsible for managing a small locations team and ensuring smooth operations on set regarding all location logistics. We need someone who can navigate the unique challenges of working with independent subjects and respecting community sensibilities. Candidates should have extensive experience (5+ years) as a Location Manager, ideally on documentary features or similar long-form projects. You should be highly organized, a strong communicator, and familiar with the Albuquerque area. Please have a portfolio or reel demonstrating your work, specifically showcasing your ability to find and manage complex locations. Knowledge of local permitting processes is a huge plus. We prefer someone with their own vehicle and a valid driver's license. We're a small, dedicated team, so a collaborative spirit is essential. Shoot dates are approximately late October through November, five days a week, generally 10-12 hour days. Specific dates are TBD but will be confirmed soon. We'll provide per diem for travel outside of Albuquerque and cover all location-related expenses.
