Senior Sound Designer, Documentary - Detroit
Hey, Jordan Kemp here. I'm working on an independent documentary project based in Detroit, focusing on the vibrant independent music scene here and its impact on the city's culture. We're looking for a senior sound designer to join our team. It's a gritty, observational film with some really strong atmospheric elements, so a nuanced approach to sound is key to bringing out the emotional depth. You'll be responsible for all aspects of post-production sound, including dialogue editing, sound effects design, foley, and mixing. We're looking for someone with significant documentary experience, a strong reel showcasing your atmospheric design work, and a knack for storytelling through sound. You should have your own professional-grade sound design software and be comfortable working independently. The project is in advanced stages of picture lock, with sound work expected to begin in approximately 2-3 weeks, for about 4-6 weeks of work, possibly longer. We’re offering $150-300 per day, depending on experience. We're a small, dedicated team, and while this isn't a huge studio production, we're all passionate about this story. If you've got a great ear and love documentaries, send over your reel and a brief intro.
