Senior VFX Artist, Short Film (Austin, TX)

Seeking a talented Senior VFX Artist to join our team for an independent short film, starting immediately. This sci-fi drama, set in a dystopian future, features subtle yet impactful visual effects crucial to its world-building and character journeys. We need someone who can blend practical effects with high-quality digital enhancements to create a gritty, believable atmosphere, without leaning into overt CGI spectacle. This project is artistically driven and offers a great opportunity for a creative eye. Key responsibilities include compositing, matte painting, minor 3D modeling, and motion graphics. You'll work closely with the director to realize the film's unique visual style. We're looking for someone with extensive experience in industry-standard VFX software, a strong portfolio or reel demonstrating senior-level work, and the ability to work independently. Gear is not required, as we have a fully equipped post-production setup. We anticipate about 3 weeks of work, primarily remote with occasional in-person meetings in Austin. Compensation is $200-400/day, depending on experience and scope of work. We aim to have all VFX completed by late October 2026.
