Sound Design for Feature Film
Our upcoming independent feature film, a psychological drama exploring themes of isolation and memory in an urban setting, is seeking a senior Sound Designer. This project offers a unique opportunity to craft an immersive and unsettling auditory landscape that will be crucial to the film's tone and narrative impact. We're looking for someone with a sophisticated understanding of how sound can drive story and emotion, contributing significantly to a truly distinctive cinematic experience. You'll be responsible for creating, editing, and mixing all sound elements, including dialogue, Foley, sound effects, and ambient sounds. This involves close collaboration with the director during post-production to realize the sonic vision for the film, ensuring seamless integration with the picture edit. We require extensive experience in feature film sound design, a strong portfolio demonstrating creative and technical proficiency, and your own professional-grade sound design software and workstation. While we're based in Chicago, some remote work is possible, but we expect regular in-person sessions during critical mixing phases. The post-production schedule, including sound work, is estimated to span November 2026 and December 2026, with about 8-10 weeks of concentrated effort. Compensation is $500-800/day, depending on experience and scope. Meals and on-set incidentals during any necessary in-person sessions will be provided. Please send your reel and relevant experience. We're looking to wrap up applications by October 30, 2026.
