Sound Design for Short Film

Seeking a talented Sound Designer to join our independent short film project, a dark sci-fi thriller with a strong psychological edge. We're aiming for a moody, atmospheric tone that relies heavily on intricate soundscapes to build tension and immerse the audience. This film explores themes of isolation and artificial intelligence, and sound will be crucial in conveying the protagonist's unraveling mental state. Key responsibilities include creating and implementing all sound effects, foley, and ambient tracks, as well as working with the director to shape the overall sonic identity of the film. You'll be expected to provide your own sound design software and access to a professional sound effects library. Please submit a reel demonstrating your narrative sound design work, particularly projects with a similar genre or tone. This is a paid position, offering $1000-1500 per day for approximately 3 weeks of work, primarily in post-production. The editing phase will begin in late October or early November 2026, and we anticipate sound design work to follow shortly after picture lock. We are looking for someone based in the New York, NY area to facilitate potential in-person collaboration sessions, though much of the work can be remote. A small, dedicated team will support your creative process.
