Sound Design for Pilot

Seeking an enthusiastic entry-level Boom Operator for an independent sci-fi drama pilot filming in Austin, TX. This project explores themes of artificial intelligence and human connection with a subtle, grounded tone, offering a visually compelling narrative. As a key part of our sound team, you'll be responsible for precise boom placement, cable management, and maintaining clean audio capture on set, working closely with the Sound Mixer. We're looking for someone eager to learn and contribute, with a keen ear for sound and a good understanding of set etiquette. While we prefer you bring your own basic kit (boom pole, headphones, shockmount), we do have some equipment available. A reel or examples of previous work are a plus, but not strictly required for this entry-level role, a strong interest and positive attitude are most important. Shoot dates are approximate and will primarily be within October 2026, typically 10-12 hour days for about 3 weeks of work. Compensation for this pilot is deferred, structured as a backend percentage. This is a great opportunity to gain valuable experience on a promising project with a dedicated crew. We will provide all necessary production insurance.
