Budget Lav Hiding Hacks for Tricky Wardrobe (Indie Film)

Nadine here, working as a script supervisor on a lot of indie narrative stuff. We're usually running on a tight budget, think an FX3 or Pocket Cinema Camera 6K G2 as our main camera, and often just a single MKH 416 on a boom, plus whatever lavs we can scrounge. The sound folks are always doing their best, but we can't always spring for the super premium lavs or multi-mic setups.

My real challenge lately has been with wardrobe like silk blouses or really tailored, fitted suits. The usual methods for hiding lavs often create crinkle noise or bulge visibly, especially with cheaper lavs. It's a constant headache trying to get clean audio without ruining the shot.

What are your go-to, budget-friendly hacks for hiding lavalier mics effectively in these kinds of challenging wardrobe situations, without compromising sound quality too much?
