Contract Review in Indie: When is a Broker NOT Feasible? Plan B?

I'm Brianna, a Casting Associate on a few indie projects. We're currently in pre-production for a short film, shooting on a V-RAPTOR XL with an LS 600d Pro for our key light, so not a micro-budget, but still lean. The guide I'm using strongly recommends having a broker review all contracts (talent, crew, locations, everything) before signing.

Logically, I get it. Protect everyone. But in the frantic pace of indie production, especially when things move so quickly from concept to shooting, there are times a full legal review just feels... impractical. When does that 'textbook' step genuinely become unfeasible? For example, if we need to lock in a location permit for next week, and our contact is only available for 24 hours, waiting for a full broker review might mean losing it.

What's a realistic 'plan B' for ensuring adequate protection and understanding of terms when you simply don't have the time or immediate funds for a dedicated broker for every single document?
