Dialogue Matching Workflow & File Management - Boom Op Seeking Advice

Hey everyone,

I'm Sam, a boom op, and I've been doing a lot of reading lately about dialogue matching between takes and different mics. It's something I'm always striving to improve, especially on those trickier sets where we might be hopping between my MKH 50 on the boom and a lav on an actor, or when a scene shot on an ALEXA Mini suddenly moves to a tighter shot on a V-RAPTOR XL with different blocking.

My current approach is pretty standard: trying to maintain boom distance, mic angle, and staying aware of reflections. I log everything in my 888, noting any changes. But I feel like I could be much more systematic, especially with file management and metadata, to really help post-production.

For those of you who've really nailed this, what does your personal workflow look like for ensuring consistent dialogue sound across takes and mic changes? Do you have any unique file management or labeling systems you swear by, perhaps even something beyond standard sound reports, that helps bridge the gap for the editor or mixer?
