Sound Design for Documentary

Documentary Sound Design Atlanta, GA entry Budget: $200-400/day

Hey Atlanta sound folks, I'm helping a director friend find an entry-level Sound Designer for an upcoming independent documentary project. This film explores the vibrant, historic music scene of Atlanta, focusing on unsung local heroes and unique venues. It's an intimate, character-driven piece with a raw, authentic tone, so the sound design needs to reflect that, bringing the city's sonic tapestry to life. We're looking for someone eager to gain experience and contribute creatively to a meaningful story. Your primary responsibilities will include recording clear, high-quality audio on set (dialogue, ambient sounds, foley if applicable), managing sound equipment, and assisting with basic post-production sound editing. You'll work closely with the director and editor to ensure the audio matches the film's vision. We're seeking someone who can provide their own basic sound kit, including a recorder, boom mic, and lavalier mics, if possible. A reel or examples of previous sound work, even student projects, would be great. Shoot dates are approximate but will be spread across 10-15 days, likely weekends and some weekdays, over the next two months. Days will generally be 8-10 hours. We're offering $200-400 per day, negotiable based on experience and equipment. Lunch and craft services will be provided on set.
