Entry-Level Sound Designer, Feature Documentary

Documentary Sound Design Los Angeles, CA entry Budget: Points + deferred

Hey LA film community, I'm Destiny, a stills photographer working on an independent feature documentary and we're looking for an enthusiastic entry-level Sound Designer. This film delves into the fascinating world of urban archeology, exploring forgotten histories beneath our city streets. It's a visually rich project with a contemplative, slightly mysterious tone, so the sound design will be crucial in building immersion and atmosphere. You'll be responsible for creating soundscapes, designing unique effects, and collaborating closely with our editor to elevate the storytelling. We're looking for someone with a passion for sound and a good ear, comfortable working independently but also taking direction. You should have access to your own sound design software and be proficient in it. While extensive experience isn't required, a strong reel demonstrating your creativity and technical skills is a must. This is a deferred payment project (points + deferred pay upon distribution), perfect for someone looking to build their portfolio and gain feature doc experience. Our post-production schedule is flexible right now but we anticipate needing significant sound work over the next 3-5 months, approximately 15-20 hours per week initially. We're a small, dedicated team and provide a supportive creative environment. Looking forward to hearing from you!
