Sound Designer, Indie Feature (Chicago)

Hey everyone, I'm Drew, a re-recording mixer in Chicago, working on an exciting independent feature and looking for a talented entry-level Sound Designer to join our team. This is a gritty, atmospheric crime drama set in the 80s, think early Scorsese meets neo-noir, with a heavy emphasis on impactful soundscapes to build tension and character. Your main responsibilities will include sourcing and editing sound effects, creating unique sonic textures, and helping to shape the overall auditory world of the film. We're looking for someone with a good ear and a creative approach to sound storytelling. You'll need your own sound design workstation and software, and ideally, a decent library of effects. While we're looking for entry-level, a strong reel demonstrating your creativity and technical skills is a must. This is a deferred compensation project (points plus deferred pay structure), which is standard for many independent productions at this level, but offers a great chance to get a significant feature credit. We're looking to start sound work in late summer, with flexible hours. This is a fantastic opportunity to collaborate on a compelling story and get real feature film experience.
