Documentary Directing New Orleans, LA entry Budget: Revenue share

Hey NOLA filmmakers, I'm a Costume Buyer on an independent production looking to bring on a passionate entry-level Director for an upcoming documentary. We're tackling a really interesting, intimate story about the resilience of local artists post-pandemic, focusing on the grit and creativity that makes this city unique. It's going to be a heartfelt, visually rich piece, showcasing the vibrant culture our city is known for. You'll be responsible for guiding the creative vision, working closely with our small team for interviews, b-roll, and shaping the narrative. We're looking for someone who can direct talent, manage shot lists, and lead on set. Ideally, you'll have some basic experience, maybe with short films or student projects, and a strong reel that demonstrates your directorial style and eye for storytelling. While we have some gear, familiarity with common documentary cameras and audio setups is a plus. This is a partnership opportunity, meaning compensation will be a revenue share once the film is distributed. Shoot dates are flexible but we're aiming for late summer (August, September timeframe) for approximately 15-20 days of shooting, probably spread out. We'll provide craft services and some transportation help for shoots.
