Directing for Commercial

Hey filmmakers, my name is Ethan and I'm a sound editor (working freelance on this project) looking to bring on a talented Director for an upcoming commercial shoot in Toronto. This is for an independent production, an exciting and visually driven spot for a new tech product. We’re aiming for a clean, modern aesthetic with a touch of approachable sophistication. We're looking for someone with a fresh perspective and a strong visual storytelling sense, even if you’re just starting out in commercial directing. Your main responsibilities will include collaborating with our small creative team to develop the final visual concept, leading the talent and crew on set, and ensuring our vision comes to life effectively. We need someone who can work efficiently and inspire a good atmosphere on set. While we don't expect you to own high-end gear, having your own basic directing tools, like a monitor or an iPad for blocking, would be a plus. Please showcase your directing reel or any relevant visual work when you apply, we're really looking for potential here. Shoot dates are tentatively scheduled for late July, a two-day shoot, likely 10-hour days. We’ll provide all necessary production equipment, crew, location, and catering.
