Director: Sci-fi Web Series (Mid-Level)

Hey filmmakers, Grace Nakamura here. I'm helping an independent production find a talented Director for an upcoming sci-fi web series based in Los Angeles. This project is a gritty, character-driven story exploring themes of identity and survival in a post-apocalyptic urban landscape. We're aiming for a dark, atmospheric tone with strong visual storytelling. As our Director, you'll be responsible for translating the script into compelling visuals, guiding the cast's performances, and overseeing the overall creative vision from pre-production through principal photography. This includes working closely with our DP, production designer, and the rest of the crew to ensure a cohesive and impactful final product. We're looking for someone with a strong visual style, a knack for working effectively with actors, and a clear understanding of independent production workflows. We need someone with several years of directorial experience on narrative shorts, web series, or similar projects. A strong reel showcasing your narrative work and ability to achieve a specific tone is essential. Please be comfortable working with a compact crew and understand the demands of a fast-paced production schedule. While we provide equipment, directors are welcome to bring their preferred gear if it aligns with our production needs. Shoot dates are approximately 5-7 days in late July to early August, mostly 10-12 hour days. Compensation is $150-300 per day, depending on experience. We'll provide craft services and some transportation assistance if needed. Let's make some cool content!
