Camera Assistant, Documentary (Atlanta)
Hey filmmakers, Wayne Garrett here. I'm helping out an independent production company with an upcoming documentary shoot in Atlanta, and we're looking for a skilled Camera Assistant to join our crew. This project explores the personal stories behind climate change's impact on coastal communities, focusing on human resilience and adaptation. We're aiming for a raw, intimate, verité style, so someone comfortable with dynamic, less controlled environments would be a great fit. Your primary role will involve assisting our DP with camera setup, lens changes, media management, battery swaps, and basic maintenance. You'll be crucial in keeping things running smoothly on set, anticipating needs, and maintaining our gear. We're looking for someone organized, proactive, and with a good eye for detail. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to gain hands-on experience on a meaningful project. Ideally, you'll have some basic experience on documentary sets, even if it's volunteer or student work. A dependable attitude and a willingness to learn are key. Please possess your own basic tool kit. While we'll be providing all the core camera package, having some of your own essential accessories is a plus. Please submit a brief cover letter outlining your relevant experience, even if limited, and a link to any reel or past work if you have one. Shoot dates are flexible but we're targeting late spring/early summer for approximately 3-4 weeks of principal photography, with potential for pick-up days. Days will generally be 10-12 hours. Compensation will be determined based on experience. We'll be providing meals on set and a positive, collaborative work environment.
