Mid-Level Cinematographer, Documentary
Looking for a talented mid-level Cinematographer to join our small, independent production for an upcoming documentary project. This film explores the vibrant, untold stories of Vancouver’s street artists, focusing on their creative processes and the challenges they face. The tone will be intimate and observational, requiring a visually sensitive approach to capture raw emotion and urban aesthetics. We need someone who can bring a strong visual voice to this compelling narrative. Key responsibilities include collaborating closely with the director to establish the visual style, operating camera, managing lighting, and overseeing the camera department. You'll be instrumental in shaping the look and feel of the film. Requirements for this role include owning your own camera package (e.g. Blackmagic, Sony FX series, Canon C series) and relevant lensing, a minimum of 3-5 years experience as a Cinematographer on documentary or narrative projects, and a strong reel showcasing your visual storytelling abilities. Shoot dates are approximately 25-30 days over a 3-month period, starting late summer in various locations across Vancouver, BC. Hours will be typical production days, 10-12 hours. We'll provide necessary production insurance, meals on set, and transportation assistance for gear. Compensation is deferred, offered as a backend percentage of sales/distribution. Let's make something great together!
