Gaffer (Senior) for NYC Short Film

Hey filmmakers, we're an independent production seeking a senior-level Gaffer for an upcoming short film in New York City. This is a dramatic short, a character piece, focusing on a young artist's struggle. It's an intimate story with some really beautiful, nuanced scenes that will rely heavily on atmospheric lighting to convey emotion and tone. We're looking for someone creative who can tell a story with light. Your main responsibilities will include collaborating with the DP on lighting design, leading the lighting crew on set, and ensuring all safety protocols are met. You'll be expected to bring your own essential lighting kit, though we'll be renting specialized units as needed. We need someone with extensive on-set experience (5+ years as a Gaffer or Best Boy Electric, for example), a solid understanding of various lighting techniques, and a proven track record. Please share your reel or a portfolio showcasing your work on similar dramatic projects. Shoot dates are tentatively scheduled for 4-5 days in late September, early October. Expect 10-12 hour days. We'll provide all meals, transportation to and from set, and a comfortable working environment. Compensation is $2000-3000 per week, depending on experience.
