Gaffer (or Best Boy/Girl) for Upcoming Documentary

Documentary Lighting Los Angeles, CA any Budget: DOE

Hey everyone. I'm Alex Trujillo, a 2nd AC, and we're looking for a skilled lighting professional for an independent documentary project filming in Los Angeles. This doc explores the vibrant street art scene, focusing on the stories behind the murals and the artists who create them. The tone will be intimate and visually rich, a blend of vérité style and stylized interviews, so good lighting will be key for capturing the textures and details of the art and the personalities of our subjects. We need someone who can work efficiently with a small crew to create compelling looks on location, often with natural light, but also able to sculpt light effectively for interviews. You'd be responsible for lighting design, managing equipment, and working closely with the DP. Any lighting experience level is welcome, whether you're a seasoned gaffer or a talented best boy/girl looking for a step up. Please have your own basic kit (stands, stingers, flags, etc.) and a reel or strong work examples demonstrating your lighting aesthetic. Shoot dates are currently flexible, aiming for late spring/early summer, primarily weekends and some weekdays, 10-12 hour days. Crafty and water will be provided on set. Compensation will be D.O.E. Looking forward to hearing from you!
