Gaffer (Best Boy Electric) for Drama Web Series
Hey everyone, Mateo here. I'm color timing an independent web series and we're looking for a Gaffer (or Best Boy Electric on larger productions) to join our passionate crew. It's a character-driven drama with some suspenseful elements, so we're aiming for a moody, artful aesthetic. We're shooting in various practical locations around Auckland. Your main gig will be helping shape the light on set, working closely with our DP to execute their vision and ensure everything's powered safely. This includes setting up and striking lighting fixtures, managing cables, and handling our small kit of LED panels, flags, and stands. We're open to all experience levels, whether you're just starting out and eager to learn or have some feature experience. While we'll be providing our basic lighting equipment, if you have any personal gear (like a favorite set of barn doors or a cool diffusion frame) and want to bring it, that's awesome but not required. A can-do attitude and a willingness to collaborate are key. A reel or examples of your work, even student projects, would be great to see. Shoot dates are looking like late November/early December (approx.) over a few weekends, plus one or two weeknights. We're expecting 8-10 hour days. As a volunteer position, we're offering screen credit, IMDB credit, and delicious meals on set. This is a fantastic chance to get hands-on experience and build your network in the Auckland film scene.
