Gaffer (Senior), Feature Film, Brooklyn

Hey fellow filmmakers, Omar here. We're gearing up for an exciting independent feature, a grounded sci-fi drama with a strong focus on character and atmosphere. Think emotional depth meets subtle world-building. We're looking for a seasoned Gaffer who can really elevate our visuals and help us craft that nuanced, evocative look we're after, especially with practical lighting. This isn't a massive studio film, so resourcefulness and creativity with a smaller lighting package are key. Responsibilities include leading the lighting department, collaborating closely with the DP on lighting design and execution, managing the electric crew, and ensuring all safety protocols are meticulously followed. You'll need to hit the ground running with strong leadership skills and a deep understanding of cinematic lighting techniques. We're looking for someone with extensive feature film experience, a strong reel demonstrating your expertise, and ideally, your own basic lighting kit (though we'll be supplementing significantly). Shoot dates are tentatively scheduled for late summer in Brooklyn, approximately 20-25 days. Expect long but fulfilling days. We'll handle craft services and transportation for gear. This is a deferred compensation role with a percentage of backend profits. Let's make something special!
