Gaffer for Indie Short Film, Toronto

Short Film Cinematography Toronto, ON any Budget: $150-300/day

Hey everyone, Kyle here. I'm a colorist working on an upcoming independent short film and we're looking to bring on a Gaffer to lead our lighting department. This is a dramatic short, exploring themes of grief and redemption, with a slightly surreal, dreamlike visual tone. We're aiming for a strong cinematic so your eye for shaping light will be crucial in helping us achieve that atmosphere. Your main responsibilities will include collaborating with the DP on lighting setups, managing our small lighting package, and overseeing the electrical safety on set. We're a tight-knit crew, so a collaborative spirit and a proactive attitude are important. We're open to all experience levels, from rising talent to seasoned pros, as long as you have a solid understanding of lighting principles and a good attitude. While we have a basic lighting package, any additional gear you can bring or have access to would be a bonus, but not required. Please share your gaffing reel or a portfolio of your work if you have one. If you've got experience in indie projects, that's a plus! Shoot dates are tentatively scheduled for late July 2024, likely 3-4 days, 10-12 hour days. Lunch and snacks will be provided on set. This is a great opportunity to work on a passion project with a dedicated team. Looking forward to hearing from you!
