Gaffer for Corporate Explainer Video (Entry-Level)
We're looking for an entry-level Gaffer to join our small, independent production team for an upcoming corporate explainer video. This project is for a tech startup, so the tone will be polished, modern, and a bit innovative. We're aiming for a clean, sophisticated look that showcases their new software. It's a great opportunity to gain experience on a professional set and contribute to a visually appealing piece. Your primary responsibilities will include assisting the Director of Photography with all lighting setups, striking and setting up equipment, ensuring power distribution is safe and efficient, and generally supporting the lighting department. We're looking for someone eager to learn, who can follow directions well, and has a strong work ethic. You should be familiar with basic grip and electric principles and comfortable handling and setting up lighting equipment. Please have a basic understanding of safe set practices. While personal gear isn't required for this role, any experience with various lighting fixtures (LEDs, HMI, tungsten) or grip equipment is a plus. Please submit your resume or a brief overview of relevant experience. A reel isn't necessary for this position, but any examples of your work, even student projects, are welcome. Shoot dates are approximately two to three days in late October or early November, in a studio space in New York City. Exact hours will be communicated closer to the shoot, but anticipate 10-12 hour days. Lunch and craft services will be provided on set. Compensation for this role is deferred (points plus deferred payment), reflecting the indie nature of the production.
