Gaffer for Sci-Fi Web Series, Entry-Level
Hey filmmakers, we’re looking for an enthusiastic Gaffer to join a small but passionate crew for an upcoming sci-fi web series. This project is a gritty, near-future drama with some cool visual effects, exploring themes of technology and identity. We’re aiming for a slightly stylized, high-contrast so your eye for shaping light will be key. As our Gaffer, you’ll be working closely with the Cinematographer and me, to execute the lighting design. Your main responsibilities will include setting up and striking lights, managing power, running cables safely, and assisting with any grip work as needed. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone looking to get their foot in the door and gain practical, hands-on experience on a scripted narrative. We don't require you to bring your own gear, though if you have any personal kit you'd like to use, we're open to discussing it. We are looking for someone with a basic understanding of lighting principles, safety protocols, and set etiquette. If you have any experience with LED fixtures, that's a plus! Please include a brief description of any relevant experience, even if it's just student films or personal projects. No reel required for this entry-level spot, but a strong work ethic and a desire to learn are a must. Shoot dates are approximate and will be primarily on weekends, starting in late July or early August, in various locations around Los Angeles. We anticipate long shoot days but will provide delicious meals, snacks, and plenty of water. This is an independent production, so it's a volunteer position, offering valuable on-set experience and screen credit.
