Senior Editor, Feature Narrative

Hey everyone, Amara Okafor here. I'm a documentary filmmaker, but I'm gearing up to produce an independent narrative feature, a gritty psychological drama set in Chicago's underground music scene. We're looking for a highly experienced Senior Editor to join our team, someone who can really dig into character arcs and build tension. This isn't a flashy, effects-heavy film, it's all about nuanced performances and the pacing of emotional beats. Your main responsibilities will involve assembling raw footage, refining cuts, managing sound design elements, and collaborating closely with our director to achieve their vision. We're looking for someone with a strong portfolio showcasing previous work on narrative features, preferably in the drama or thriller genres. You'll need your own editing workstation and software (Premiere Pro preferred). We're offering remote work, but preference will be given to candidates in the Chicago area for occasional in-person sessions. We anticipate an editing period of about 8-10 weeks, 5 days a week, starting shortly after production wraps in late summer. This is a flat rate of $250/day.
