Cinematography for Short Film

Shooting a dramatic comedy short film in Miami, FL around October 2026, we are seeking a talented Gaffer to join our independent production. This project is a poignant yet humorous exploration of unexpected family reunions, with a naturalistic, slightly stylized visual tone. We are aiming for a festival run and a strong portfolio piece for all involved. As Gaffer, you will work closely with our Cinematographer to execute their vision, overseeing lighting setup, power distribution, and the general management of the lighting department. Responsibilities include interpreting lighting plots, supervising grips and electricians, and ensuring safe and efficient operation of all lighting equipment. We expect you to bring your own basic lighting kit (C-stands, flags, stingers) or have access to one. Experience on short films or similar independent projects is a plus, but we welcome passionate individuals at any career stage. A reel showcasing your lighting work is highly encouraged. Shoot dates are approximately 3-4 days within October 2026, exact schedule TBD. Standard 10-hour days are anticipated. Compensation is negotiable based on experience and gear provided. Lunch and craft services will be provided on set.
