Colorist, Sci-Fi Short Film (Deferred Pay)
Our upcoming sci-fi short film, a mind-bending exploration of artificial intelligence and consciousness, needs a talented colorist. This independent production offers a unique visual palette, blending gritty realism with ethereal dreamscapes, and we're looking for someone excited to bring that vision to life through color. It's a character-driven piece, full of subtle emotional cues that color will play a crucial role in enhancing. We shot primarily on an ARRI ALEXA Mini LF, so you'll be working with high-quality RAW footage. Your primary responsibility will be to perform full color correction and grading, ensuring visual consistency and creative enhancement across all scenes. We'll need you to deliver a final graded master suitable for festival submission and online distribution. We're open to all experience levels, from emerging artists to seasoned professionals, as long as you have a strong reel demonstrating your aesthetic and technical skills. You should have your own grading suite, ideally DaVinci Resolve Studio, and the ability to work remotely, though we're based in Los Angeles if you prefer in-person collaboration. We'll provide an EDL, a high-res proxy edit, and clear creative direction. Post-production is expected to start around October 12, 2026, with grading likely beginning a couple of weeks after that. We anticipate about 2-3 weeks of dedicated grading work, depending on your workflow. This is a deferred compensation role, offering a backend percentage of any sales or festival winnings, a common arrangement for ambitious short films looking to make a splash. We’re eager to find a creative partner to join our team. Please submit your reel and a brief cover letter explaining why this project interests you. We'd like to make a decision by November 4, 2026.
