Sound Designer, Sci-Fi Pilot
Hey everyone, I'm Samantha, an Assistant Editor on an independent production currently seeking a talented entry-level Sound Designer for our upcoming sci-fi pilot. This project is a gritty, character-driven story set in a dystopian future, with a focus on immersive soundscapes to amplify the tension and world-building. We've got some really cool visual concepts and need a sound designer who can help bring another dimension to our story. Your responsibilities will primarily involve creating and implementing all sound effects, foley, and ambient tracks, as well as working with the director to shape the overall sonic identity of the pilot. You'll be crucial in building the atmosphere of our unique world. We're looking for someone who has a strong ear for detail and a creative approach to sound. For gear, please have your own workstation and software for sound design and editing. We're open to various DAWs, just let us know what you use. Relevant experience, even from student films or personal projects, is a plus. Please submit a reel or portfolio showcasing your sound design work, specifically projects where you've had a significant creative hand in the audio. The shoot dates are TBD, but we're aiming for late summer in Austin, TX, likely a 5-day shoot. Hours will be typical production hours, but we're committed to a supportive and collaborative environment. This is a deferred compensation project (points + deferred pay after funding), as is common with many independent productions in development. We'll provide meals and a great opportunity to get some fantastic experience and credits on a promising project.
