Directing for Documentary

Documentary Directing Sydney, AU mid Budget: TBD

Hey filmmakers, I'm putting out feelers for a Director for an independent documentary project set in Sydney. This is a character-driven doc, exploring the fascinating world of urban foraging and the individuals who are keeping these traditions alive in contemporary city life. We're looking for someone with a real knack for storytelling and a natural, observational style, able to connect with subjects and draw out authentic narratives. You'll be responsible for creative vision, guiding our camera team, and overseeing the overall aesthetic and narrative flow of the film from pre-production through to the initial assembly edit. We're a small, passionate crew. You don't need to bring your own gear, we'll have all the necessary equipment sorted. We’re seeking someone with a couple of documentary directing credits under their belt, a mid-level professional who isn't afraid to get their hands dirty, so to speak. Please share your reel and a brief cover letter outlining your approach to character-focused documentaries. Estimated shoot dates are late Q3/early Q4 this year, roughly 4-6 weeks of principal photography. Hours will be pretty standard for a doc shoot, some flexibility will be needed. Compensation will be discussed directly based on experience.
