Directing for Short Film

Seeking a talented Director for a music-driven short film shooting for 1-2 days in the second half of September 2026. This is a volunteer position, offering credit and meals. Our project is a darkly comedic, character-driven short, blending elements of indie drama with a distinctive, curated soundtrack that's integral to the storytelling. We need someone who can craft compelling visuals and guide performances to bring out the nuanced humor and underlying tension. Your key responsibilities will include pre-production planning, collaborating closely with the DP and actors, and leading on-set execution. We're looking for a director with 3-5 years of experience, a strong visual sense, and a knack for working with actors on independent productions. You should have a proven reel demonstrating your ability to tell engaging stories. While we'll have basic camera and lighting packages, comfort with independent film resources is a must. This is a great opportunity to get some unique work on your reel and connect with a dedicated team in the Nashville film community.
