Director, Portland Independent Feature Film

Our independent production is seeking a passionate and driven Director to lead our upcoming feature film. This project is a gritty, character-driven drama set in the Pacific Northwest, exploring themes of resilience and the search for belonging. We're looking for someone with a strong vision who can bring a fresh perspective to a compelling script that balances intense emotional moments with subtle, everyday realism. This is a chance to make a significant creative impact on a story with great potential. Key responsibilities include collaborating closely with the production designer (that's me!) and cinematographer, guiding the cast, and translating the script into a cohesive and visually engaging cinematic experience. You'll be instrumental in shaping the overall tone and pacing of the film. We need someone who is comfortable working with a small, dedicated team and can inspire confidence in both cast and crew. This is an entry-level position perfect for someone looking to direct their first feature. While previous feature experience isn't required, a strong portfolio of short films, music videos, or other narrative work is essential. Shoot dates are approximately 15-20 days spread across early October 2026. This will be a partnership role, offering a Co-producer credit and a share of the backend profits.
