Director for Pilot (Sci-Fi, Procedural)

Hey filmmakers, I'm helping a team find a Director for an exciting pilot episode for a sci-fi procedural. Think X-Files meets CSI, with a grounded, gritty aesthetic and complex characters. We've got a fantastic script, and we're looking for someone to bring a strong, singular vision to it, someone who can elevate the material and make it truly shine. This is an independent production with a lot of passion behind it. Your key responsibilities will include leading the creative vision, collaborating closely with the DP and department heads, blocking scenes, and guiding actor performances. We need someone who can translate the written word into compelling visuals and emotional depth. We're open to directors of all experience levels, from seasoned pros to talented individuals looking for a significant break, as long as you have a strong understanding of visual storytelling and a clear directorial voice. Ideally, you’ll have a reel demonstrating your ability to handle character-driven narratives and atmospheric tension. This is a deferred compensation project, offering a percentage of backend profits, which we believe will be substantial given the quality of the material. Shoot dates are approximately late Fall 2024, likely a 5-day shoot. We'll provide camera, lighting, and grip packages. We're based in Los Angeles, so local candidates are preferred.
