Director (Pilot Episode)

We're gearing up for a pilot episode of an independent sci-fi drama, an ambitious project with a compelling script and a unique visual aesthetic. This is a character-driven story exploring themes of identity and parallel realities, with a grounded, gritty tone. We're looking for a visionary director to bring this world to life. Your main responsibilities will include collaborating with the producer and DP to establish the visual style, guiding the cast's performances, and overseeing the overall creative direction of the episode. We need someone who can translate complex emotional beats into impactful on-screen moments. While experience directing sci-fi is a plus, we're open to all qualified candidates, regardless of their experience level, as long as you have a strong storytelling sensibility. Please submit your reel or a portfolio of your past work. Knowledge of independent filmmaking workflows and guerrilla tactics is helpful, as is a good artistic eye for composition and pacing. Shoot dates are tentatively scheduled for late summer (August/September) over 5-7 days, primarily in various locations around NYC. Exact hours will be determined during pre-production. While this is a deferred compensation role (backend percentage), we're committed to making this a rewarding creative experience and providing a supportive set environment. We'll be providing production insurance, catering, and transportation to and from set.
