Senior Director, Austin Sci-Fi Short

Seeking an experienced Director for a compelling independent sci-fi short film shooting this summer in Austin. Our upcoming project is a thought-provoking piece exploring themes of identity and artificial consciousness, with a visually driven tone. This is a chance to lead a dedicated crew and tell a powerful story. Your key responsibilities will include guiding the creative vision, working closely with the cast and crew to bring the script to life, and ensuring a cohesive final product. We're looking for someone with a strong body of work in narrative filmmaking, ideally with experience in sci-fi or similar genres. A professional reel showcasing your directorial style is essential. As this is a passion project, the position is volunteer, but we will provide meals on set, a copy of the final film for your reel, and an opportunity to collaborate with a talented team. We anticipate shooting for approximately 3-4 days in late July or early August, with flexible full-day schedules. While we have basic equipment, any specialized gear you can bring or recommend would be a bonus.
